The preliminaries consist of the Contents, the Preface written by George Wilkins (the Editor), the Forewords that Sadler wrote during the course of his writing, and the Prologue, which gives a brief account of his life before he joined the Office.

The Contents are included here as it forms part of the whole book, however, the contents of each section is listed on the appropriate web page.
